Police arrest 13-year old ‘errand boy’ for Kumasi’s most wanted criminal

A 13-year old errand boy of one of the most wanted criminals in the Ashanti Region has been arrested.

According to Regional Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye, Baba used the juvenile as his front man in many of his notorious activities in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi.

The juvenile whose name is withheld, was part of 12 teenage suspected criminals believed to be behind recent carjacking and robberies in and around Kumasi.

A ‘shocked’ DCOP Kofi Boakye told Luv Fm’s Prince Appiah, the age range of the suspects revealed the deep roots of crime in the region. Nonetheless, he promised to root out criminals.

A Nigerian, who is believed to have murdered Grace Opoku, a house help of a white man and his Ghanaian wife at Ridge in Kumasi, has also been arrested by the police.

The suspect, identified only as Emma, was arrested over the weekend from his hideout in Kumasi based on intelligence gathered by the Ashanti Regional Police Command.

Emma, who was said to be renting a room in the white man’s house and two Nigerians, one by name ‘Monday,’ were declared wanted by the police in connection with the murder of Grace Opoku, 40.

DCOP Kofi Boakye earlier declared the three Nigerians wanted and promised to arrest the suspects, saying ‘they can run but they can’t hide.”

Emma was apprehended by the police at an undisclosed area in Kumasi over the weekend.

DCOP Kofi Boakye, who declined to give full details about the arrest of Emma, said the police were on the heels of Monday and the other Nigerian over the murder of Grace on Friday, May, 23.

The police commander therefore entreated the public to provide the police with vital information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects to assist in investigations.

The body of Grace, a mother of three, was found with a towel filled with powdered pepper tied tightly around her face with her hands and legs also tied with a rope as she lay in a locked room.

Emma and his accomplices, who allegedly committed the heinous act, disappeared immediately after the incident on Friday, May, 23.

The Nigerians reportedly attacked the white man’s wife, Ama Kyere, 70.

Madam Ama Kyere, who sustained injuries, informed the Ridge Police that three Nigerians living in her husband’s house had attacked her violently.

The police rushed to the house but the Nigerians were nowhere to be found. They later found the body of the deceased in the locked room of Emma.
