Kotoko determined to extend Premier League celebrations with FA Cup triumph

Asante Kotoko midfieder Jordan Opoku says the team is primed to beat Inter Allies to the FA Cup trophy to further extend celebrations following their Premier League coronation.

The Porcupine Warriors were officially crowned champions of the Ghanaian top flight for the third successive time on Sunday after a goalless stalemate with rivals Hearts of Oak.

Kotoko are however in with a chance of clinching their first ever double as they battle Inter Allies in the FA Cup finals on Sunday.

Midfielder Jordan Opoku says the team is determined not only to make history but ti ensure the celebrations that began with their league coronation is extended with an FA Cup feat.

‘It is our wish to win laurels for this club and now that we are in the finals for another trophy, we look to win it,’ he told Metro FM.

‘There have been some celebrations over our Premier League feat and we look to continue with these celebrations with a win on Sunday [against Inter Allies].’

Kotoko retained their Ghana Premier League title for the third successive time with two games to spare.

They have however stuttered in their attempt to win the FA Cup with their closes attempt coming last year when they lost in the finals to Medeama SC.
