Lions miss chance to wrap up Champions League spot

Heart of Lions suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at home to King Faisal to put on hold their bid to qualify for the CAF Champions League.

A first half penalty converted by Farouk Mohammed put Faisal in front and it separated both sides till the final whistle was sounded at the Kpando Park.

Lions, sitting second ahead of the final day fixture against AshantiGold in Obuasi are just two points above close contenders, Hearts of Oak.

A draw for Lions in their final game will qualify them to the continental club competition.

For Faisal, the victory has enhanced their chances of premiership survival as they need to avoid defeat in the final match.

At the Gyamfi Park, New Edubiase came from behind to beat Wa All Stars 2-1 in their quest to beat the drop.

Abdul Ganiyu put the Blues in front from the spot in the first half before Asiedu Attobrah struck a brace after the interval to hand Edubiase victory.

In Cape Coast, Ebusua Dwarfs’ hopes of staying in the elite division was all-but ended at the Essipon Stadium where they drew goalless with Hasaacas.

Dwarfs are second from bottom but three points adrift the third side from relegation.
