Jimmie Johnson doubles up in Dover

The Hendricks Motorsports driver led for 272 of the 400 laps at the Dover International Speedway, winning at the track for the ninth time in his career.

The six-time Sprint Cup Series champion held off a fast-finishing Brad Keselowski, who began on pole but had to fight hard to secure second spot for Team Penske.

Matt Kenseth’s third-place finish took him to the lead in the 2014 Sprint Cup Series race, after former leader Jeff Gordon could only muster a 15th-place finish.

Rounding out the top-five on Sunday were Clint Bowyer (Michael Waltrip Racing) and Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing).

Kenseth sits atop the championship standings on 463 points, from Hendrick Motorsports’ Gordon (461), Roush Fenway Racing’s Carl Edwards (438) and Johnson (436).

The FedEx 400 marked the midway point of the season, with another 13 races until the Chase for the Sprint Cup finale.
