Essikado (W/R), May 30, GNA – Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Omanhene of the Essikado Traditional Area, has called on the educational institutions to integrate Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) into the mainstream education.

He said ICT must be seen as a modern tool that could help in the development as the world is gradually becoming technology based.

Nana Kobina Nketsia, also a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), said this at the inauguration of an ICT laboratory for the Essikado Roman Catholic Mixed School at Essikado.

He said the school, established in 1934, lacked many teaching and learning aids and noted that the ICT laboratory had been established by the Sacred Heart School in North Carolina in the United States of America at the right time.

He commended Reverend Father Anthony Awotwe, the Parish Priest, for facilitating the establishment of the ICT laboratory.

Mr. Frank Cardelle, Principal of the Sacred Heart School, said the Essikado Catholic School would be adopted by his school as a sister academic institution for learning and exchange programmes.

Mrs. Georgina Abakah, Headmistress of the School, expressed gratitude to the donors, saying the ICT laboratory had come at the right time to augment ICT education in the school.

She said robbery was one of the school’s challenges and appealed to the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly to fence the school.
