Uranta Lauds Jonathan For Declaring War Against Terrorism

Former member of the National Dialogue Committee and Secretary of The United Niger Delta Energy Development Security Strategy (UNDEDSS), Mr Tony Uranta, has said that President Jonathan’s declaration of war against terrorism is welcome development.

UNDEDSS, a coalition of civil society and ethnic nationalities of the Niger Delta, in a press statement, Friday, also urged the Boko Haram sect and its sponsors to avail themselves of the opportunity for a dialogue being offered by the Federal government and end the unbridled killings in the country.

In his 2014 Democracy Day broadcast to the nation, President Jonathan said that he was determined to protect the nation’s democracy, unity and political stability, by waging a total war against terrorism.

The President however said that while the Federal Government will be pursuing security measures, it would also explore all options, including readiness to accept unconditional renunciation of violence by insurgents, thus ensuring their de-radicalization, rehabilitation and re-integration into the broader society.
