Musicians Advise Ampadu, Others To Withdraw Suit Against GHAMRO

A number of  musicians in the country have expressed their surprise at how Nana Kwame Ampadu and 100 other musicians have instituted legal action against the board members of Ghana Music Right Organisation (GHAMRO) to account for their stewardship.

In a meeting, the musicians tasked Nana Kwame Ampadu and the 100 others to withdraw the suit for the sake of peace to reign in the industry and refer the issue to the Music Council of Ghana (MCG) for an amicable solution.

The musicians disclosed that ‘there are a handful of people who want to run the administration of the music industry down and we will not sit unworried for others to destroy the industry. The time has come for us to expose them and their wicked agenda.

‘We need to create unity among the players in the industry. War and misunderstanding will not help the music industry to grow. The music industry has come of age.  We the players must learn to find solution to our problems instead allowing a third party to do that for us, one of the musicians told BEATWAVES in a chat.

The President of Music Council of Ghana (MCG), Ekow Micah, in a chat with BEATWAVES said, ‘We are matured enough to handle issues concerning GHAMRO. We put them there so we have the power to tell them what to do and what not to do. The court action will not solve the problems that the industry is currently facing. This court case will rather create more harm than good. We should not allow a handful of selfish individuals to create more problems for the music industry.’

Ekow Micah, who could not hide his feelings about the lapses in the music industry stated that the activities and utterances of certain industry players were creating division among the stakeholders, adding that things must change as soon as possible.
