Accam happy to learn from Muntari and Essien

David Accam has admitted that training with top players in the Ghana camp preparing for the World Cup is helping him pick up valuable lessons.

The 23-year-old Helsingborgs IF striker might be pushing to be part of Ghana’s final squad for the World Cup in Brazil but is also determined to add some touches to game.

“The experience is amazing for me to be playing with the best players in your country. Most of them play for bigger teams, they have a lot of experience at different levels. So for me to be training with them is superb and I know I am learning a lot from them,” Accam told www.ghanafa.org.

Accam is confident that he can continue to improve his game due to the influence of the vastly experienced members of the Black Stars including Sulley Muntari and Michael Essien.

“You learn a lot from everyone in the team. You learn from [Christian] Atsu, [Sulley] Muntari, [Michael] Essien. It doesn’t matter if they are small players or big, you just have to learn from them.

“But I will say I learn a lot from Muntari, his experiences, composure and his leadership is good,” said Accam, who is hoping to make his debut World Cup.

Accam hopes he can reproduce his Club form in the Swedish league in the national camp to secure him a place in coach Kwesi Appiah’s final team.

“I have been playing well in Sweden and that’s the same kind of football I have brought here, and even though I think I am really working hard at the moment, I still need to do more if I want to go to the World Cup and I know my form will help me,” he said.

Ghana’s final squad is yet to be finalized and that has increased the level of competition in their camp in Arnhem, says Accam.

“Because its getting close to the World Cup, everyone wants to play and everyone wants a position. You can see the tackles are flying and everyone is giving hundred percent now.”
