UTV Presenter Loses Husband

A female presenter with the Despite Group of Companies, Maame Yaa Konama Antwi, has lost her husband under tragic circumstances.

The sad incident occurred on Tuesday, 20th May, 2014. According to sources who disclosed the incident to Razz newspaper, the man, Pastor Gabriel Antwi, who was an ordained minister at the Penny Assembly of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) branch in Teshie, fell from the roof of his house whilst trying to fix a television antenna.

Maame Yaa Konama Antwi, also known as ‘Osofo Maame’ is a newscaster and an anchor of UTV’s popular telenovela series, ‘Corona De Lagrimas’, translated as ‘crown of tears’.

Sources present made known that in the early hours of Tuesday, 20th May, 2014, Pastor Antwi, who also worked at the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, wanted clearer channels on his TV set as well as to watch his wife who will be reading the early morning news on UTV’s Morning show, ‘Adekye Nsroma’.

He therefore decided to fix the antenna and asked a relative who was with him at the time to stay in the room and check if the channels were clearer.

After communicating for a while, the relative realized that Pastor Antwi had gone mute. She went outside to check if everything was okay only to see Pastor Antwi lying on the ground.

She shouted for help and neighbours around, assisted her to rush Pastor Antwi to the 37 Military Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Pastor Antwi is believed to have been electrocuted.

He was 31 years.

Colleagues and friends have been sympathizing with her but at the moment she is said to be inconsolable.
