Tafo(E/R),   May 28, GNA – Mr Tawiah Ahmed, President of the Adisadel Old Boys Association Class of 98 (Santaclausians 98), has called on old students associations to promote domestic tourism in the country.

This, he said,   would lead to the growth of the tourism sector resulting in the socio-economic development of the country.

Mr Ahmed made the call at the end of a four-day retreat organized by Santaclusians 98 at Tafo in the Eastern Region,   to deliberate on building a strong business networking amongst members of the year group.

The move was to ensure that members took advantage of business services offered by their colleagues to help grow one another’s business.

Mr Ahmed said Santaclausians 98, has therefore resolved to rotate its monthly meetings across the country in a bid to promote domestic tourism.

He said this move was also to ensure that meetings and decision making processes of the Association were not only done in Accra, but in other parts of the country to afford the executives and members the opportunity to learn at first hand,   the activities and engagements of members in other parts of the country.

During the retreat, members participated in golf lessons at the Tafo Golf Course, visited a cocoa farm, and the newly-created canopy walk way located at the Bunso Aboretum.

Mr Ahmed said if ‘members businesses grow, the year group fund raising drive will be made easier, since members will contribute portions of their profit to the development of the alma mater.’

In line with this, a six-member committee chaired by Mr Dela Gadzanku, was formed to come out with modalities on how best to drive this initiative.

Other members of the committee were Mr Crispus Lawson, Mr Steven Nii Amasah, Mr Kwadwo Appietu-Ankrah, Mr Albert Amorh, and Mr Prince Odei Aboagye.

Mr Gadzanku assured members of the year group of the committees’ commitment to work and live up to the task.

He said developing business relationship between members was imperative, to ensure the sustainable growth and development of both the Santaclausians 98 and Adisadel College.

The next meeting of the Association will be held in the Ashanti Region.
