Looking for a response: Bubba Watson wants better at Memorial Tournament

The American world number five’s best finishes at the Muirfield Village Golf Club were tied-23rd results in 2007 and 2009.

Watson said he enjoyed the challenge in Ohio and is eager for a better result having struggled at the PGA Tour event.

“I love this place. Coming back here, it’s one of the places you always see a great field. It’s a good golf course,” he said.

“For me I love the look of it, I don’t think I’ve ever played well here but I love coming back and challenging myself.

“I don’t think I’ve ever had a really high finish, but I look forward to the challenge and hopefully now that I’m playing a little bit better, think a little bit better, hopefully I’m there Sunday afternoon.”

American world number 10 Jordan Spieth is preparing himself for greens which are expected to be almost as fast as Augusta.

“It’s really nice to be back here on a course that I’d say I have more experience on now than even going back to college than most of the courses we play,” the 20-year-old said.

“It’s a big golf course. I remember the Memorial last year being the fastest greens I’d ever putted on until Augusta this year so they’re up there.”
