A giant billboard at the Rawlings Park, Accra near the statue of King Tackie Tawia and Makola Traffic light, fell on two cars, Mercedes Benz and Hyundai Elantra yesterday, causing damage to them.

Workers at the Rawlings Park told DAILY GUIDE that the billboard gradually moved during the heavy rainfall yesterday.

The rear windscreen and bonnet of the Mercedes Benz and Hyandai cars respectively were damaged.

The workers also appealed to the city authorities to inspect all the billboards in Accra to ensure safety.

Some women, who were selling under the billboards, said they ran for their lives at the onset of rains.

The owners of the two cars, who were shopping at the time, had not assessed the extent of damage to their respective cars as at the time DAILY GUIDE was leaving the scene.

The rampant collapse of billboards in the city has become a major concern for residents, who have called on city’s authorities to put measures in place to protect lives and property.
