Do more to earn more – Financial Consultant urges Ghanaians

A financial consultant has advised Ghanaians to work consider doing more part-time jobs to increase their earnings. Most Ghanaians, by the nature of the local job industry, work from 8am to 5pm and hardly get to do other sustainable businesses but Mr. Charles Mensah says people should explore other avenues to get more streams of income.

Speaking on the Family Finance Series on the Citi Breakfast Show, Mr. Mensah alluded to the fact that even though some people have over the years been doing other things to support their incomes, it is time people planned well to use their skills effectively to earn more.

In addition, he has advised people to acquire more skills to increase their earning.

“If it is that you have some skills that you can apply elsewhere, it may not be the primary set of skills you use at your existing job, use them to earn some more income.

The part-time bit comes in when you know you have enough time at your disposal or you have enough skill or talent that can be applied elsewhere. You can learn certain things like marketing also so you can do part-time sales for some commissions. These days fortunately for us, we are backed by technology so one can do online business, it saves time,” he said.

He also added that people aged between 25 to 40 years should not sleep beyond 5 hours because these are the prime years to make money.

“When you sleep less, you earn more, there are things you can do with all the time at your disposal. You can decide to sleep more after 40 when you have built a strong financial foundation,” he added.

The Family Month Series on 97.3 Citi FM is sponsored by Stanbic Bank and Falcon Properties.
