ROMEO SASU last Saturday overpowered Barimmah Kwaku Duah to win the youth edition of the May Ashfoam Monthly Medal Golf Tournament.

For his hard work, Romeo was presented with a trophy, a student mattress and other products from Ashfoam, who are the proud sponsors of the event.

The one-day tournament, which took place at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi, was played to boost the unity and brotherliness among golfers at the club and also promote the sport.

Peter Korsah, with a gross score of 72, snatched the enviable first position in the professionals’ category, followed by Effah Poku, 74 gross and A. Prempeh, who finished with 75 gross.

The Men’s Group A was won by Paul Ahun who beat Kwabena Poku via countback after the duo had pegged at 71 net score. The Men’s Group B was also won by E.A. Prempeh after beating S. Rajeel on countback after they had pegged at 65 net.

M.I. Oppong was the proud winner of the Ladies Group A with a score of 74 net, pushing F. Okyei-Gyeabuor, 78 net, to second position. In the Group B of the Ladies category, J. Donkor-Baah was first with 74 net, followed by Anima Wilson, 75 net.

In the Seniors’ category, J.E.K. Oppong was the winner with 41 net score.

Golfers that excelled in the tournament were given attractive prizes. Even those who failed to shine received free pillows from Ashfoam.

Addressing newsmen after the event, Martin Poku, Captain of the Royal Golf Club, said the monthly medal is an important tournament on the calendar of the golf club as it makes the club active.

He expressed joy at the high patronage that the tournament attracted, applauding Ashfoam for constantly supporting the Monthly Medal Golf Tournament.
