Li Na reflects on shock loss at first round of French Open

The world number two ” who won the Roland Garros title in 2011 ” was surprised by the Frenchwoman.

Mladenovic, ranked 101 places below her opponent, claimed a 7-5 3-6 6-1 win in just over two hours in front of a partisan home crowd.

And in a stunning press conference after her defeat, a disappointed Li did not hold back, claiming that she was not able to try 100 per cent.

The Chinese star also felt that any other player would have beaten her in frank and revealing comments.

“I think (it) doesn’t matter who plays today against me, I always lose the match today, because I don’t think she was put (putting) a lot of pressure from me,” Li said.

“I think today just I gave it away for the match.
“I don’t think I’m doing well. If I doing well, I believe I still can win the match if it’s not my best day.

“But I don’t think today I try a lot.
“(It) doesn’t matter who plays today against me. I already lose the match already.”

Li also said that her game plan was not followed in comments that hinted she was feeling the pressure of being seeded second.

“Nobody say if you (are) number two in the world you have to win all the matches,” she added.

“I mean, this is tennis. I mean, everyone come to the court, everyone has a chance to win the match.

“I don’t think I’m doing well on the court.
“And also, even during the match, I don’t think totally what I should do, like especially I didn’t follow the game plan, and even I was standing up the court, in my mind I didn’t have any idea how to play the match.”
