Airtel Ghana at the weekend staged its first-ever internal Corporate Social Responsibility project called ‘Catwalk for Charity’ aimed at using fashion to raise funds internally through Airtel staff, family and friends to support Airtel’s CSR activities.

The fashion show, which featured Airtel employees and some management members as models, was also intended to showcase the designs of budding fashion designers.

The show, which was part of the company’s internal CSR campaign called ‘Make a Difference Day’ (MADD), raked in funds to support a collaboration between Airtel Ghana and an NGO called World Reader to help purchase Kindle e-readers for students in marginalized communities.

Fashion designers, who featured on the ‘Catwalk for Charity’ included Ameyo, Threadex, M&K Wear, Shik Collection, Eye Candy, Seyi Jones, Mystic Beads by Mercy, as well as Adoley Clothing.

Budding makeup artist such as Pixie Dust, Limarj and Shades by Dede complimented the efforts of the designers.

The exciting part was the outdooring of Airtel Ghana’s Friday wear.

The unique event was held at the forecourt of Airtel Ghana’s Office and three lucky guests won accessories worth GH¢20,000.

Maame Dufie Cudjoe, CSR Manager at Airtel Ghana, said: ‘Adoley Designs, Eye Candy, Ameyo, Seyi Jones, Shik Collection, M&K Wear as well as Threadex, Mystic Beads by Mercy, our staff volunteers and models have been incredible and a great help to us in organising this event.

‘We hope that this will bring people together in the spirit of raising funds towards eradicating illiteracy while enjoying quality entertainment. We’re very much looking forward to welcoming everyone to the show.
