No case again: Ashantigold’s application for review dismissed

Ashantigold’s quest to have their MTN FA Cup last 8 tie against Asante Kotoko replayed finally saw its final ghost after their review in respect of the dismissal of their appeal was also rejected by the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association.

Ashantigold failed to show up in Accra for the April 13 clash which was initially scheduled for the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi but switched to the Accra Sports  Stadium following a home ban placed on Kotoko barely 3 days to match day.

The Disciplinary Committee declared Ashgold losers and fined them to boot but Kudjoe Fianoo and his Obuasi side lodged an appeal which was also thrown out early this week. The Miners still never gave up and applied for a review.

A letter dated 23 May and signed by Acting GFA Secretary General, Emmanuel Gyimah addressed to Ashantigold and copied to Kotoko, the FA Cup Committee and GFA President offering the submission of the Appeals Committee’s decision on their review, stated that Ashantigold’s case ‘has no merit and therefore same is dismissed.’

The reasons for the dismissal, the letter noted, will be submitted to Ashantigold at a later date.

Meanwhile Asante Kotoko and city rivals, King Faisal have reported for the long overdue second semi final in Kumasi later today with Inter Allies waiting in next week’s final, of course.

The FA Cup Committee with the support of sponsors, MTN are rewarding fans who will show up at the Baba Yara Stadium for the Kotoko-Faisal game with talk time.
