Kumasi derby: Kotoko take on Faisal in FA Cup

,The league champions Asante Kotoko come up against their city rivals, King Faisal in the semi finals of the MTN FA Cup at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors wrapped-up the league title with two games to go in the mid-week by beating New Edubiase for the very first time at home, so they are now motivated ahead of this game.

King Faisal for the first time this season were beaten at home by Liberty Professional on Wednesday to push them to the relegation zone, thus the need to make amends with the FA Cup.

The last year finalist, Kotoko progressed to the semi final after getting a walk-over, because Ashgold failed to appear for the game, while King Faisal defeated Aduana Stars on penalties to make the semi finals.

The game will be very difficult to predict, because it is a local derby and more so they shared the 6 maximum points between themselves: Kotoko beat Faisal 3-0 in the first round and Faisal too avenged the defeat with a 1-0 win over Kotoko.

The last time both teams met in an FA Cup was the final of the 2001  competition and Kotoko emerged victors through an extra time goal from Kwaku Duah.

The Porcupine Warriors are chasing a league and FA Cup double, a feat which has eluded them in their history.
