Presidential Staffer Clement Apaak has challenged critics of the Subah, street naming project to go to court if they are convinced the deal is a sham.
He says the current “emotional propaganda” being unleashed on government as a result of the Subah deal must stop.
He was speaking on Joy FM and Multi TV’s news analysis programme Newsfile, Saturday.
Subah Infosolutions is once again in the news for winning a contract to supply motorbikes and render other services for Ghana’s street naming project.
The company is already being accused of receiving a little over 74 million cedis for work it did not do. It was contracted by the Ghana Revenue Authority to monitor call data records of the telcos and provide the necessary information for purposes of proper taxation but critics maintain the company was not deserving of the amount paid it.
Even before the dust on that controversy would settle the company has won another contract worth about six million to name the streets in the country, a contract it won with another company called the Street Naming Company.
But Clement Apaak says the Subah deal on street naming is much ado about nothing. He said critics who believe there is something to hide must proceed to court and get the issue thrashed out.
He is convinced the deal is above board, adding all the necessary procurement procedures were followed.
But the Deputy Minority Leader Dominic Nitiwul wondered how an IT Company would win a contract to supply motor bikes.
He said there were more competent companies with track records in supplies and which should have been considered.
He is convinced due process was not followed in the award of contract to Subah.
