The Black Queens of Ghana on Sunday afternoon recorded a 2-0 win over their Ethiopian counterparts in the first leg of the African Women’s Championship qualifier in far away Addis Ababa.

The Queens, who enplaned to Ethiopia as early as Wednesday in order to become accustomed to the harsh weather conditions in the East African country, were able to stage a captivating performance in the capital city.

Two goals from striker Samira Suleman and Elizabeth Cudjo were all the Queens needed to make the second leg a mere formality.

The Black Queens, who are chasing their eighth appearance at the competition, will be seeking to stage yet another feat in this year’s championship after failing to qualify for the last edition which was held in Equatorial Guinea.

The 2014 African Women’s Championship will be hosted by Namibia in August.
