Steve Borthwick fit for Saracens to face Toulon in Heineken Cup final

There had been doubts over the second row’s fitness after he picked up a pectoral injury in the 31-17 win over Harlequins in the Aviva Premiership semi-final on Saturday.

That was the first of a trio of huge games for the club, with Saturday’s showdown in Cardiff preceding the Premiership final against Northampton at Twickenham on May 31.

Borthwick will retire at the end of the season and the match against Northampton is due to be his 265th Premiership appearance.

The rest of the Saracens XV is littered with England internationals, with fly-half Owen Farrell hoping to outshine Jonny Wilkinson in the latter’s European swansong.

The likes of Alex Goode, Chris Ashton and David Strettle will attempt to provide the flair in the backs, while the formidable front row of Mako Vunipola, Schalk Brits and Matt Stevens will aim to win the battle of the breakdown.
