Ashtown murder: Bonty Killer arrested in Budumburam

Nhyira News can confirm the arrest of a key suspect in last week-end’s murder of a 34 year old man at Ashanti New Town in Kumasi.

Bonty Killer was arrested at his hideout at Budumburam in the Central Region by a team of police from the Greater Accra command.

Details of his arrest are sketchy but a second suspect however escaped arrest as police mounted an operation in which 145 suspected criminals were picked up at a hotel at Dichemso in Kumasi.

The Greater Accra Command has relayed information of Bonty Killer’s arrest to counterparts in the Ashanti Region who are making efforts to ensure the suspect’s repatriation to Kumasi.

The Ashanti Regional Police command declared Bonty Killer and three others, Kwame Sasraku, Taribo West also known as Nana Yaw and Dragon wanted for being behind the gunning down of the 34-year-old man.

Police also placed a 2000 Ghana cedi bounty on the suspects with a call on the public to help in tracing them.

Last Thursday night police fired warning shots after one of the suspects escaped arrest in a raid at the Plaza Hotel at Dichemso. One of the suspects scaled a wall upon seeing the police.

Police are currently screening 145 other suspects made up 41 females and 104 males arrested in the raid.

Manhyia Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Deborah Addison-Campbel said:

‘We had information that the suspect and some of his accomplices were hiding at that hotel so that is what informed our raid at that place’.

‘When the police got to the hotel, somebody immediately on seeing police scaled the wall and we had to pursue him and warning shots were fired. But unfortunately, we couldn’t arrest that individual’. Madam Addison-Campbel revealed.

Meanwhile, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye has tasked the Criminal Investigations Department to ensure the transfer of the man said to have led the murder of one Kwame Antwi at Ash-Town last week.
