Accra Hearts of Oak kept their African return ambitions in sight with a slender 1-0 win over in-form Inter Allies at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Influential winger Winful Cobbinah netted in the 70th minute to hand the Phobians a vital victory over an exciting Allies side.

Hearts coach Mohammed Polo handed returns to Gerald Wellington and Philip Boampong but goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy could not return in time to make the squad for the game.

Herbert Addo paraded an strong line-up including Talla N’Diaye and Abdul Fatau Safiu and they managed to hold the Phobians for the best parts of the game until Cobbinah scored from a fine combination to seal victory for Hearts and keep them in third place.

Hearts increase their points tally 44 points and trail second-placed Lions by three points and face big-rivals Asante Kotoko in the Ghana derby on Sunday.
