I don’t have to be president to be fulfilled – Dr Nduom

He twice had a shot at the presidency but was unsuccessful; Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom who is believed to be nursing a third consecutive try, says being a president is not an obsession for him.

‘I don’t have to be president of the Republic of Ghana to be fulfilled,’ Dr. Nduom replied when asked on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Wednesday if he was eyeing the 2016 presidential election.

He said for now, he is contributing his quota by opening companies and creating jobs, all for purposes of developing Ghana. That for him is equally fulfilling, he hinted.

‘I am fulfilled, I am doing work everywhere and I like what I am doing, and especially when you create jobs in places where private people don’t want to go and you see the impact of it with people, it is wonderful. So I am doing all that I need to do in this country, I feel fulfilled.’

Nonetheless, Dr. Nduom maintained: ‘I believe that I have something to offer this country.’

Papa Kwesi Nduom was the presidential candidate of the Convention Peoples’ Party in the 2008 elections. He split from the party and formed the Progressive Peoples’ Party and stood as its flagbearer in 2012 but was still unsuccessful.

He conceded that the power to be president still rests with Ghanaians but was quick to remind them that the current challenges facing the country is as a result of the decision they made in the 2012 election when they chose to elect President John Dramani Mahama.

Ghanaians would have a choice again in 2016 to chart their destiny depending on who they vote for. Dr. Nduom explained, ‘You get what you vote foryou get the result that you are looking for.’

Dr. Nduom, who is a business consultant and owns chains of hotels and companies in Ghana and abroad, would not give a definite answer if he will contest the 2016 elections but would rather prefer to concentrate on helping shape the nation for the better – for now.

‘We are not in election time yet, this is the time for nation building and I am devoting my time to help the nation build. If the time comes for politics we will do it,’ he concluded.
