Ghana Youth Agrifair Comes Off AU Day May 26th, 2014


There is compelling evidence of ageing farmer population in the country which must be addressed to facilitate sustainability in agriculture production. The average age of a farmer in Ghana is 55 years and life expectancy averages between 55 – 60 years.

In this regard, The Ghana Centre for Entrepreneurship, Employment and Innovation in partnership with the Institute for Democratic Governance under the State of the Union Project, CESAGRI, AGRIPRO and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in commemorating 51 years of the African Union and the AU ‘Year of Agriculture and food Security’ is proud to present the 1st Ghana Youth Agrifair and Youth Stakeholder Forum on Agriculture on the Theme ‘Youth in Agriculture, Job Creation and National Development’. Main Speakers for this Event are: Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, Dr. Abu Sakara, Former CPP Presidential Candidate, Dr. George Kwadzo, School of Agriculture, University of Ghana, Legon.

GYAF is a platform to showcase agric start-ups pioneered by young people, a platform to bring to light the programs developed by the private sector, government for youth involvement in agriculture, funding opportunities for agribusiness and will climax with a Youth in Agriculture Stakeholder Forum with Private Sector, Academia, Civil Society Organizations, Development Partners, Policy Implementers, Youth; designed to set the tone, provide the right framework and develop implementable strategies to increase youth participation in Agriculture

The maiden edition of the Ghana Youth Agrifair comes off on the 26th of May 2014 at the Accra International Conference Center from 9:00 am. Forum starts at 11:30 am and is open to the General Public.

Ghanaian Youth, SME’s, Development Partners and Agric enthusiasts are encouraged to Come shop, interact and gain industry information to start or scale up your Agribusiness.
