Cleveland Cavaliers get lucky again, given NBA’s top draft pick

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ lottery luck continued as they were handed pick one in the NBA draft for the third time in four years on Tuesday.

Having finished 10th in the Eastern Conference this season, the Cavaliers had just a 1.7 per cent chance of being given the top selection.

But they got lucky for the second straight year and will add to their number one selections of 2011 (Kyrie Irving) and 2013 (Anthony Bennett).

The Cavaliers are expected to choose from the likes of Joel Embiid, Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker and Dante Exum in what is considered a deep draft.

The Milwaukee Bucks, who had a 25 per cent chance of being given the top pick, choose second, ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic.

The Bucks, who had a league-worst record of 15-67 this season, missing out, means the team with the best odds have not been given the number one pick since 2004.
