Champions Again: Kotoko retain title with win at Edubiase

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have won their third straight league title and 23rd overall after a hard fought 2-1 win over New Edubuiase at Bekwai.

Needing a win to render the chase of  second placed Kpando Hearts of Lions a formality,Kotoko approached the game with attacking intent at a ground they have never won at.

Dramani’s willingness to attack led to several chances for his attacking line led by top scorer Seidu Bancey.

Bancey would not be denied in the 33rd minute though as he connected a Yusif Aziz pass.

With New Edubiase failing to make an impression,Kotoko pressed their advantage and got a second through midfielder Prince Baffoe before the end of the first half.

Edubiase coach Evans Adotey made tactical tweaks to his team to fight back but the best chance was spurned when former Kotoko striker Stephen Manu failed to convert a penalty late in the second half to start the celebration for the fans of the Porcupine Warriors.

Nti Mensah scored a late consolation goal for New Edubiase but was not enough to keep the Porcupine Warriors out.
