Family pressure: Kotoko defender Abeiku Ainooson eyes greener pastures abroad

Local Black Stars and Asante Kotoko defender Abeiku Ainooson has expressed that he is willing to seek greener pasture abroad because of family pressure.

The 24-year-old defender believes the Ghana Premier League is not attractive due to inadequate sponsorship and has made it clear that he wouldn’t think twice to leave Ghana if any opportunity comes abroad.

‘If they make the league attractive, we will be taken good care of and that is the more reason why we are attracted to leagues like that of South Africa,’ he told Joy fm.

‘The Ghana Premier League is facing a lot of challenges in terms of sponsorships and that tells us to look outside for better options.

‘Most of us are the bread winners in our families, so we have a lot of people depending on us for their daily bread and moreover there is no pension pay in football.

‘For me (Abeiku Ainooson), if any foreign contract comes my way, I am off.’

The former New Edubiase defender has put up a very good performance in his debut season for the Porcupine Warriors and was one of the local players who were expected make it into the provisional list of Kwesi Appiah for the World Cup in Brazil,  but missed out.
