Okere MP Commends People Of Apirede-Akuapem

The Member of Parliament for Okere in the Eastern Region, Mr Dan Kweku Botwe, has commended the people of Apirede – Akuapem for their sense of communal spirit.

He said the exemplary initiatives shown by the leadership of the community to carry their destiny in their own hands must be applauded.

He said the leadership of the community did not wait for the government to solve their problems for them.

He gave the commendation after presenting 200 bags of cement to support the construction of drainage in the town.

Apirede – Akuapem, a farming community in the Okere Constituency, is faced with a serious erosion and the people, led by their chief, Nana Saforo Okoampah III, have, through their own resources, constructed drains to check the erosion.

Mr Botwe said as part of efforts to improve the living conditions of the people, a number of interventions, which include the construction of schools, clinics, and kindergarten, were being provided.

He bemoaned the lack of kindergartens in most of the communities and gave the assurance that his office would work to improve upon the situation.

The chief of Apirede – Akuapem thanked Mr Botwe for the gesture.

He called on other individuals and organisations to come to the aid of the town.

He said the cement would be used to construct more drains.

Nana Okoampah appealed to the government to rehabilitate the Adukrom – Apirede road, which is in a deplorable state.
