After being named in Ghana’s provisional 26-man squad, midfielder Ebenezer Afriyie Acquah says he is ready to fight for a spot in Kwesi Appiah’s final 23 to Brazil.

The 22 year-old was named in Appiah’s 26-man squad on Monday following his excellent performance with Parma in the Serie A after having made 22 appearances for the Italian side so far this season.

Afriyie Acquah in an interview with Accra based Happy FM indicated he will do everything possible to make the final cut for the global soccer fiesta in Brazil.

“I went out with my agent and after I came I received a call that I have been named. After making the 26-man squad, I will do everything possible to be in the final 23-man squad to Brazil”, he said.

Meanwhile the former Palermo midfielder says he is not disconcerted with the stiff competition in the midfield department of the squad.

“I have played with most of them before. And I even play with some of them here in Italy. But the coach is only the person who can decide who to play or who not to play. All I have to do is to work hard and try to impress the coach,” he added.

The former Berekum Chelsea player faces stiff competition from the likes of Michael Essien, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Rabiu Mohammed and Sulley Muntari in the central midfield department.
