Police grab robber who raped pastor’s daughter at gun point


Police intelligence has led to the arrest of an 18-year-old employed man who raped the daughter of a Kumasi-based pastor at gun point during a robbery incident.

Jeff Appiah who has admitted committing the crime, with the support of an accomplice at large, stormed the Dompoase-Kuwait residence of the pastor with locally manufactured pistols on May 5, 2014.

Police say the robbers broke into the home of the pastor and his family at 2:21a.m.

The armed men ransacked the Dompoase-Kuwait residence of man of God, robbed the family of GH¢ 700, three mobile phones.

They also raped the unidentified daughter of the pastor at gun point to the shock of the parents.

The traumatized daughter has since been seeking medical attention at a health facility in Kumasi.

According to Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent Peter Baba, Jeff and his accomplice bolted after the attack on the family until intelligence led to his arrest at an Atonsu-Kuwait hideout.

Jeff upon arrest confessed to police he was a member of the gang that attacked the pastor and his family, Superintendent Peter Baba told Nhyira FM.

“He has admitted the offence and mentioned his accomplice and the police is on the heels to get that person arrested”. Mr. Baba added.

The Regional Crime Officer also announced the arrest of one Peter Ananga, aged 36 at Atwima Koforidua .

He is believed to be a member of gang which operated and killed security man at Hill Top Residential area at Kwadaso-Ohwimase.

Police retrieved a black leather jacket which the suspect wore during the Hill Top robbery, dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, live ammunition and knives.

The suspect has been remanded in prison custody.
Fifty-two armed robbers have so far been arrested since DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye assumed office.

Chief Superintendent Peter Baba says the level of robbery has gone down drastically over the period since the arrest of the robbers.
