NBA: Steve Kerr coach of Golden State

Golden State gets its new head coach. The Oakland franchise which recently parted with manager Mark Jackson last week signed Steve Kerr .

Rumored to be on the bench for the New York Knicks, Steve Kerr, five-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls (1996, 1997 and 1998) and San Antonio Spurs (1999) has never been on the coaching bench. Former General Manager of the Phoenix Suns (2007-2010), he was before the new cap, TV consultant.

While a 4-year lease was offered to him by the franchise of Phil Jackson , Steve Kerr was seduced by the 5-year contract and $ 25 million offered by the Warriors. His appointment as head coach of Golden State was also supported by the cloakroom “Stephen has encouraged us in this direction. That’s all I can say. Steve is here because our players also wanted him. We have great players, beautiful people and they all want to win. They are all very enthusiastic,”  said Joe Lacob owner of the franchise.

Steve Kerr has 5 years to promote further Andre Iguodala, Stephen Curry and co higher than his predecessor. After their best regular season record 20 years ago, the Warriors were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Clippers.
