Hearts midfielder Maxwell Boakye forges signature of teammate to withdraw cash for girlfriend


Hearts of Oak midfielder Maxwell Boakye is in hot waters after forging the signature of his teammate to withdraw money for his girlfriend.

Boakye took a cash withdrawal slip at the Dansoman branch of Bank of Africa and forged the signature of teammate Kingsley Kissi to collect GHS 200 ($70) from a teller.

The money according to sources, was meant to be given to Boakye’s girlfriend for her to go see the epic boxing bout between Bukom Banku and Ayittey Powers on Thursday night.

Police officers invaded the training grounds of Hearts of Oak in an attempt to arrest the midfielder for the alleged crime.

But club officials and members of the technical team talked the police officers out of their intension to arrest their player with the assurance of solving the problem in house.

Boakye has since returned the money to Hearts officials to be given to his teammate Kissi.

The development is the latest twist of problems to his the Accra-based club in recent times.

The club’s board is deciding on whether to sack or retain indicted managing director Neil Armstrong Mortagbe who has been accused of abusing his office for his personal gain.
