Chocho Launches 2nd Interfaith Games

Chocho Industries has launched the second annual Chocho National Inter-faith Games and Exhibition show at the Media Centre of the Accra Stadium.

The games, scheduled for July 1 at the Mensah Sabah Park, Legon, will attract various religious groups in the country who will battle for the brand new Opel Astra vehicle and a giant trophy in an all-play-all gala competition as well as tug-of-war.

Unlike the maiden edition, which focused on the promotion of peace, this year’s event will highlight the patronage of made-in-Ghana goods.

Chief Executive of Chocho Industries Alhaji Mustapha Oti Boateng, at the launch yesterday, indicated that ‘this year’s edition will seek to drum home the idea that consumption of made-in-Ghana goods helps create jobs in our country and promote peace because as the adage ‘Ekom na edi patapaa ba,’ which literally means hunger breeds strife.’

Alhaji Chocho, the overall winner of the just-ended Ghana Entrepreneurs Awards, expressed happiness that his company’s quest to see the promotion of peace in the country, which the started last years, had gained roots.

The Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Joseph Yammin, who chaired the event, commended Alhaji Chocho for the initiative, saying ‘I must commend Chocho Industries for this brilliant initiative. I am glad because this is a local industry advancing a campaign which is dear to the president, I mean promoting made-in-Ghana goods.

‘As the reigning Best Entrepreneur, I consider this initiative as a laudable one and I urge corporate Ghana to follow suit,’ he added.

The Paramount chief of Suhum Traditional Area Osabarima Kofi Ayeh, who attened the event with a high-powered delegation, as well as representatives of the various religious groups-Islam, Christian Council of Ghana, commended Alhaji Chocho for augmenting government’s ‘Buy made in Ghana goods’ campaign.
