PICTURE: Ghana FA boss Nyantakyi dressed in ‘Kente’ to greet Asantehene on 15th anniversary

Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi was in an unfamiliar traditional apparel to pay homage to Otumfour Osei Tutu II on his 15 th anniversary as King of the Ashanti’s.

A grand durbar was organized at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium over the weekend to climax the festivities in honour of the Asantehene.

The GFA boss has a personal relationship with Otumfour who is an ardent supporter of the Black Stars.

The Ghana national team has enjoyed tremendous success whenever playing in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region.

The Black Stars played and won all of its home games in Kumasi during the qualifiers to the 2014 World Cup.

Nyantakyi who is usually dressed in business suits was clad in a beautiful light green ‘Kente’ – the traditional apparel of the Ashanti’s as he made his way to the Baba Yara Stadium to greet the Asantehene.

His bicepts and portions of his hairy chest – one only his wife gets to see – was in full display.

Nyantakyi was in the company of several football fans based in the Ashanti Region.

Born Nana Barima Kwaku Dua, the Asantehene ascended to the throne following the death of Otumfour Opoku Ware II on 26 th February 1999 aged 79.
