Mahama applauds new technology that will trigger agricultural revolution


President John Mahama has announced government’s willingness to train and offer credit facility to persons desirous of venturing into a new method of farming.

The president is convinced the new technology will trigger the agriculture revolution the country needs.

Under this scientific way of farming, variety of crops can be grown in a controlled environment without using any pesticides on them.

Agricultural scientists say this friendly environment enhances yields.

President Mahama was in Kade in the Eastern Region today to witness how the horticulture and crop research institute of the University of Ghana and Stevicksen Ventures Limited have used the technology to grow and harvest vegetables.

“This envirodrom gives us the answer and you can get maximum productivity from each plant and it is the way we should go,” he said.

He added government will support the pledge with our outmost commitment and effort.

The president said all partners will be brought on board to spread the new technology across the length and breadth of the country

President John Mahama made a passionate appeal especially to the youth of the country to appreciate the wealth farming brings and the need for them to consider joining to help food production and deal with unemployment.
