Four receive Super Women award


Four industrious Ghanaian women who have made immense contributions to improving the lives of other people were last Sunday recognised and presented with awards.

They were conferred with  “Super Women” awards at an impressive ceremony in Accra, organised on the theme “Super Woman 2014: Celebrating Ghana’s Amazing Women on Mothers Day”. The Awardees

The four were Mrs Joyce Ababio, the Chief Executive Officer (CET) of Vogue Style; Mrs Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe, the founder of Kalsoume Sinare Foundation; Rev. Mrs Gifty Lamptey, the Chief Executive Officer of SIDALCO Ghana Limited and President of Ladies of the Cross International Ministries; and Mrs Judith-Ellen Awuah Darko, the founder of JEAD Foundation. 

They emerged winners out of a total of 100 entries received by Jandel Limited, the organisers of the event. 

The award ceremony was organised in partnership with the Quality Insurance Company with support from the Graphic Communications Group Limited. It was sponsored by SIDALCO Ghana and Vanguard Assurance, with support from other organisations.   Citations 

In a citation, Mrs Ababio was commended for creating an identity for Ghana across the world using fashion, creativity, and entrepreneurship.

Ms Sinare was honoured for her effort at reaching out and providing access to education through her foundation to deprived children in the three northern regions. 

Rev. Mrs Lamptey, for her part, was honoured for thriving in the area of entrepreneurship, priesthood, often referred to as ‘a man’s world and providing a number of people with means of livelihood. 

Mrs Awuah Darko, a breast cancer survivor, was honoured for using her experience to create awareness, inspire and empower many others about the disease.

In her address, the CEO of Jandel Limited, Mrs Afi Amoro, urged them to continuously support society to improve the lives of the less-privileged to better their lot.

She said a total of 100 nominations were received through social media network, out of which a panel of judges selected the top four.

She indicated that nominations for Super Woman 2015 had started, adding that next year’s event would embrace more people across all the geographical locations of the country.
