On Saturday, May 24, the biggest ever music concert in Ghana, ‘Ghana Meets Naija’, will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
The concert is largely regarded as a musical showdown of sorts to establish supremacy between two countries whose musical trends have continuously influenced and rivaled each other in every way.
In its fourth year of existence and having been undoubtedly the biggest musical concert in Ghana over the last three years, this year’s edition of the concert, according to the organisers led by Bola Ray of Joy Fm and Chief Executive Officer of Empire Entertainment, ‘This event would be bigger, even more spectacular and is sure to give music fans an experience to truly relish.’
This year’s edition, slated for Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the AICC would witness performances from Nigeria’s finest music icons who have promised to outshine Ghanaian icons with their singing skills and stage crafts.
Some selected Nigerian icons billed to perform at the event include Davido with his string of hits like ‘Aye’, ‘Skelewu’, and a host of others. Also coming in from Nigeria would be the new sensational and the enigmatic Wizboy, with hit song ‘Wizolingo’.
Afro-pop star, Kcee, would also be making his first appearance on a Ghanaian stage and would be expected to thrill his numerous fans with songs like ‘Limpopo’ and ‘Pull Over’ which is currently a dance staple.
Ghana would also be represented by Rapperholic Sarkodie who would surely be performing his hit collaboration ‘Adonai’.
Castro is also billed to perform at the event alongside Asamoah Gyan and Kofi Kinaata.
Guru and the hilarious Lil Wayne would also perform his favourite hit songs which include ‘Boyz Abre’, ‘Lapaz Toyota’ and a host of others.
This year, the organisers of the event have promised mouth-watering packages for music fans who would make it to the AICC on that night.
‘Many are expectant about it and industry paddies have put it as the biggest thing to happen on the scene as it did last year in terms of the attendance, the production and performance.
It is all about unification and brotherliness within the spirit of having fun with our Nigerian brothers and sisters. We have a lot in common and there is no better way to express that than through a concert,’ said Bola Ray.
