Peter White thrills Jazz lovers at maiden Stanbic Jazz festival

The Omaye lounge of the Labadi Beach hotel came to a standstill in what could be described as the Jazz Concert of the year as Peter White held the audience spell bound with his performance.

The British-born music sensation was a bundle of talents as he performed his popular hit tracks to the excitement of the expectant crowd.

Backed by Acka Blay and the Abiza Band, his rendition of Bee Gees’ How Deep Is Your Love and one of Osibisa’s songs got the audience singing along while he played the guitar.

The performance lasted for over an hour and Peter White was his usual energetic self on stage and got everyone dancing.

There were other exciting performances from British smooth jazz keyboardist, producer and composer, Oli Silk and Ghana’s soul jazz singer, Ofie Kodjo.

Ackah Blay and the Abiza Band performed several African songs like corndough, Showa, Atsieke and Micheal Jackson’s Human Nature.

Interspersing soul, pop and reggae with jazz, Ofie performed songs like When I Found You, Skyhigh, Wait in Vain, Peace and Love and many others.

The concert was under the auspices of Stanbic Bank Ghana in collaboration with Smooth Jazz Ghana and Live FM.

Head of Marketing and Communication at Stanbic Ghana, Mawuko Afadzinu said they were happy to be associated with a concert of such magnitude.

He noted that as a customer-centered bank, they support any activity that resonates the passion of their customers and also boost creative industry in Ghana in general.

Mawuko Afadzino hoped the Stanbic Ghana Jazz festival will grow and become one of the best jazz festival across the world.
