Black Queens to play South Africa in friendly in Johannesburg next week

Ghana’s Black Queens will play South Africa in a friendly on Sunday May 18 at the Dobsonville Stadium.

The two teams are using the friendly to prepare for an African Women’s Championship qualifiers scheduled for the end of this month.

Banyana Banyana will play against Comoros while their opponent will engage Ethiopia after seeing off Burkina Faso.

Banyana coach Vera Pauw said: “It is an honour to be playing a power house in Africa like Ghana. We are making good progress since we last played Zimbabwe.

“I am happy with the direction women football is taking in this country and would like to thank both the sponsors Sasol and SAFA for affirming women soccer,” added Pauw, who oversaw a 2-2 draw with Zimbabwe in her first game in charge last month.

Pauw’s charges will assemble at Eastgate Garden Court before starting training at 11h00 at Bedfordview Football Club.

Pauw will name her final squad to play Ghana on Tuesday.
