The management of the National Investment Bank (NIB) in the Northern Region has presented a number of computers to the patrol unit of the Ghana Police Service to facilitate their work in the area.
According to the bank, the presentation is in response to an appeal made by the service for help to contain crime in the region. The donation comes in the wake of a similar gesture made to the University for Development Studies (UDS) a couple of months ago.
The bank handed over a four-storey structure to the university on its Tamale campus. The building contains eight-flats of three-bedrooms each for the accommodation of university lecturers.
A four-storey facility each has respectively been completed at the Navrongo campus in the Upper East and the Wa campus in the Upper West Region.
According to the Branch Manager of the bank in Tamale, Mr David Fiawotso, his outfit’s support is born out of its social responsibility to assist people in its operational area for accelerated development.
“We are not only interested in offering quality services to our clients but also caring for the welfare of the people and communities in which we operate because our bank is people-centred,” he indicated.
The manager expressed appreciation to the bank’s growing clientele and assured them of its preparedness to roll out more innovative products to aid them in their respective businesses and private ventures. Mr Fiawotso commended the police team for their untiring efforts at helping to build trust between them and the public, which he acknowledged had impacted positively on the business environment in the Tamale Metropolis.
The Deputy Northern Regional Police Commander, ACP Edward Johnson Akrofi Oyirifi, thanked their benefactors for the donation.
He indicated that following the operations of the police unit, crime rate in the Tamale Metropolis and the region in general had reduced significantly.
“Even though the unit was established over a year ago, it has made giant strides in encouraging free flow of information and building trust in the general public. And with support such as yours, our efficiency would be enhanced,” the commander stated.
