Agent :Egypt’s Ahly, Ismaily interested in Fatau Dauda

Egyptian giants Ahly and Ismaily have inquired about the possibility to sign Ghana’s number one  goalie Fatau Dauda, his agent claims.

“Last week I had a call from Al Ahly and the situation was the same. He is a keeper in demand but in life everything is a passing phase, you need to decide carefully,” his manager Samuel Okoronkwo told Ghanasoccernet.

The 29-year old international goalie has been a key element for South Africa’s heavyweight Orlando Pirates in last year’s campaign helping them to reach the African Champions League final before losing to Ahly.

However, this year, he has been relegated to the bench as Senzo Meyiwa became the number one choice for new coach Vladimir Vermezovic.

“Fatau is a goalkeeper with unique qualities, we are all not happy that his playing time has been limited but we must understand what Meyiwa means to pirates too,” he added.

“But every player wants to play and same applies to Dauda, I have had big team across African and Europe ask about his availability,” hinting at Ahly and Ismaily among other candidates.

According to Ghanasoccernet, Dauda could be a free agent at the end of the season as his contract stipulates he could depart if he doesn’t play a certain number of games.

Ismaily may be in an urgent need to sign an experienced keeper especially since Mohamed Sobhy, the club’s longtime keeper, has fallen out-of-favor with the board on monetary disputes.

Ahly does not seem in a rush to sign Dauda as they continue to enjoy the solid services of international keeper Sherif Ekrami while Egypt -20 international Mohamed Mossaad, best goalie in the African youth Championship 2013, awaits for his chance to break through the starting eleven.
