The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has accused government of failing to fulfill its promise on some demands and conditions of service.
President of NAGRAT, Christian Addai Poku, says this in press conference in Accra to outline several issues they claim has been poorly handled by the Ghana Education Service Worker, Government refusal to pay incremental credit arrears as well as the GES staff rationalization and non-payment of transfer grants among other.
Mr.Addai Poku says attempts to adopt dialogue to resolve the issues have proved futile, since they await for the implementation of the 20% difficult Area Allowance which was Championing for the implementation.
“Our rural schools lack teachers but no teacher is motivated enough to stay there and teach, what is our Minister doing differently to arrest that situation,” he stated.
He said the act of forcing teachers to go to remote places where transportation is a problem access to mobile network and internet service is non-existent, issue of electricity would not guarantee teacher punctuality and commitment.
Mr. Addia Poku said base on these demand and condition, NAGRAT have decided to embark on a demonstration on the 15th of May here in Accra and another one on the 27th of May in Kumasi. In addition they have also decided to lay down their tools by 16th of May if these issues are not properly attended to.
