Asanda (W/R), May 06, GNA – The Western Regional Minister, Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo, has appealed to nurses to accept postings to rural areas where their services are needed.
He said rural Ghana was more populated than urban Ghana yet most of the health personnel are crowded in the cities and refuse postings to rural areas.
This was contained in a speech read for him at the seventh matriculation and first graduation ceremony of the Seventh Day Adventist Health Assistants Training School at Asanda.
Out of the 161students who registered to write the final examinations last academic year, 109 students graduated.
He said the practice of refusing postings to rural areas was twined with the seeking of greener pasture abroad and appealed to health personnel to exhibit the highest sense of patriotism and stem the brain drain syndrome.
Mr. Aidoo appealed to the graduates and health personnel to adapt to the ethics of the profession in a bid to provide quality health care.
He said the government remained committed to improving the conditions of service for all sectors to nip the mass exodus of the high level manpower to other countries.
Mr. Aidoo commended the Adventist Church for its pioneering role in education.
