The headless body of a 40-year-old woman was found last week Thursday in a bush behind the state owned palm estate in the Azikoro area of Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa state.

According to report, the deceased identified as Lydia David from neighbouring Delta State had lived in the Azikoro village in the last 10 years. She had left her house at about 3p.m for her farm to check on her fish traps at a swamp close to the Bayelsa palm estate.

When the mother of five failed to return at about 8p.m, the family became worried and therefore organised a search party for her and her headless body was found.

The missing head of the woman was found some days later later at an uncompleted building close to Goodnews Street in the Azikoro suburb.

While some claim the woman must have been killed by suspected ritualists, close family members claim they cannot attribute her death to ritualists as they are waiting for police findings.

The police in Bayelsa State have however intensified search for the killers of the woman.
