Offinso North District Assembly: Assembly Members Vote ‘YES’ In Vote Of No Confidence

The presiding member for the Offinso North District Assembly yesterday had a sigh of relief as he survived a vote of no confidence.

Thirty three (33) assembly members voted on Yes and 11 voted No thereby failing to get the two-thirds of the votes as the law stipulates.

In all, there were 34 Assembly members to vote but one opted out leaving the 33 members to vote.

The presiding member, Hon. Collins Ntim has gone through a number of Votes of No Confidence and this has been the second time which has proved futile.

According to the Assembly Members who voted Yes, the presiding member is not serious when it comes to development thereby making development in the Offinso North District to remain stagnant.

Backing their claims, Hon. Agyei Davis and some other Assembly members who spoke to Cruz FM’s Morning Show host, Alhassan Bin Jibril Spelele, said that the presiding member, Hon. Collins Ntim failed to sign for a release of a GET fund hence their decision to oust him as the presiding member.

However, The PPP parliamentary candidate in the 2012 general elections in the Offinso North, Hon. Annang Davis also made it categorical that the presiding member was called on a sister station Time FM to explain why he (the presiding member) decided not to sign for the release of the funds and he answered that he did not because he has a problem with the DCE, Hon. Samuel Appiah Kubi alleging that the DCE is behind the numerous Vote of No Confidence on him.

In the first attempt to get the man removed as the presiding member, it generated controversy as to how the standing orders are interpreted.
