First Lady, Lordina, Visits Accident Victims At 37 Military Hospital


The First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, on Wednesday, visited the Greater Accra Regional Women Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, Madam Vivian Ankrah and her driver, at the 37 Military Hospital here in Accra.

The First Lady, from the Airport, went straight to the Military Hospital after arriving back in Accra from her sister’s funeral at Kintampo. She empathised with the victims and wished them a speedy recovery from the injuries they sustained.

She was accompanied by the National Deputy Women Organiser and some regional women executives of the NDC.

Madam Vivian and her driver were involved in an accident on their way back to Accra after the funeral of Mrs Mercy Ankomah, the elder sister of the First Lady, at Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo Region. The accident occurred near Techiman and claimed the lives of the NDC Deputy Regional Women Organisers for Greater Accra and Volta Regions respectively, Hajia Adiza Sulley and Madam Agnes Tia respectively.

Madam Vivian, who was in good spirits on seeing the First Lady at her sickbed side, assured Mrs Mahama that she would get well earlier than anticipated. She said she is hopeful she’ll be discharged in good time.

On his part, Madam Vivian’s driver said he was responding to treatment and hopes to recover as soon as possible.

The two victims who sustained various degrees of injuries were flown to Accra and taken to the 37 Military Hospital.

The First Lady used the opportunity to visit other patients on admission at the hospital. A Navy officer on admission expressed delight at seeing the First Lady at his bedside. According to him, he has never seen this singular gesture by a First Lady before, adding that this will live with him for a very long time.
