Ecobank Ghana on Wednesday opened Ecobank Direct, its first digital and financial services advisory centre at Labone in Accra.

Ecobank Direct, the first of its kind in West Africa, will enable the bank’s tech-savvy customers to benefit from the convenience of real-time digital transactions since its advanced software and hardware give customers control of their banking transactions.

Samuel Ashitey Adjei, Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, commenting on the facility said: ‘The launch of Ecobank’s digital branch and financial advisory centre is set to change the landscape of banking in Ghana. It offers customers a unique experience which provides both control of their banking and financial freedom.’

Albert Essien, Ecobank’s Group Chief Executive, also stated that the centre demonstrates Ecobank’s ability to stay ahead of the competition in a fast-changing market through customer-centric innovation, which will enable its customers to have direct relationship with the bank which is available every hour of the week.

‘In the last 12 months alone, Ecobank Ghana has won a host of impressive awards. It is therefore no surprise that it should be launching a service that has never been seen in the country or even this part of Africa.’

Patrick Akinwuntan, Group Executive Director of Domestic Banking, also said the bank’s intention has always been to match up to global trends in innovation.

‘While the playing field may not always be level, we believe that we are keeping in step with the world’s best banks, if not ahead while staying true to our pro-Africa principals.’

Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, who was the guest of honour at the event, in a remark, commended Ecobank Ghana for its efforts at taking banking services to new heights in the country and pledged Government’s support for such initiatives.
