Ghana’s biggest match of the season between Kotoko and Hearts of Oak will be played in Kumasi next month after the Porcupine Warriors were cleared to used their home venue for the return league clash.
The country’s version of El Classico will now be played in Kumasi on 1 June.
It was feared that Kotoko would be denied the chance of playing the much-anticipated game in Kumasi following acts of violence by their supporters this month.
But the decision by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana FA to ban them for two matches means that they have already served their home ban.
Kotoko were handed a temporary home ban following the incidents in their match against Heart of Lions which threatened their quest to host arch rivals Hearts on the second round of the league.
Now that the decision has been taken, Kotoko will be delighted to host their arch rivals even though they are almost clinched the league title.
Apart from the pride at stake, it will be a chance for the Porcupine Warriors to cash in as a huge crowd is expected to throng the stadium for the match.
Hearts will be seeking a revenge as they lost the first round clash 1-0 in Accra.
