English side Birmingham City have confirmed Dutch-born Ghanaian youth striker Akwasi Asante will not be offered a new deal and will leave the club at the end of the season, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively confirm.

The 21-year-old has made just an appearance for the Blues since joining them in the 2010/11 season, coming off the bench as a late substitute during Birmingham City’s 3-0 second-leg victory over Portuguese side C.D Nacional at the St Andrews in August 2011.

After spells with Northampton Town and Shrewsbury Town, the Ajax Amsterdam Academy product returned to Birmingham before the start of the season but has been limited to U21 action.

Birmingham are currently facing a turbulent season in the English Championship and have embarked on a restructuring and have decided to release Asante along with Reece Hales and right-back Ryan Higgins.
